Match Report

Harris Hurries To Hat Trick Heroics

The second instalment to the Romans v Kings Sports trilogy turned out to be a triumphant return to action for last seasons top goal scorer Harris.

Having been consigned to the bench (or sofa) since the opening game of the season, Harris was introduced at the start of extra time and sealed a win in this tight encounter.

A goalless first half in which both sides had chances to take the lead gave few clues to what was to come in the next 75 minutes.

Romans took the lead after just 3 minutes of the 2nd half when Gunning scored after being set up by Kendal.

In the 62nd minute Romans looked like they had sealed a final appearance after Gray received a square ball on the edge of the box and turned his defender to score with an unstoppable drive.

Kings were not to be denied and scored after a mix up in the Romans defence on 79 to set up a grandstand finish.

Given that they had been reduced to ten men, it was even more to their credit that Kings managed an equaliser 4 minutes later after more
strange happenings in defence.

2-2 at full time and with Gray off with a bad hamstring tear Romans had to reorganise.

Romans did most of the pressing in the first period of extra time and were rewarded when Baxter's cross hit Harris on the head and the ball
looped over the Kings 'keeper in the 101st minute.

The second half of extra time was more comfortable as Romans made the extra man count and Kings began to tire.

A minute in and Harris got his second and Romans fourth after a "knockdown" (loose trap) from Gunning.

Two minutes later and Harris sealed his comeback with a finish made easy by the ball from Kumar.

A good performance in extra time but the game could/should have been done and dusted in normal time but for two defensive errors and some missed chances.

Can Harris maintain his form? Tune in next week for Kings v Romans III - The League Encounter
